Hi.
I'm Tamar Nix.

I developed a passion for functional design at a very early stage in my life, which ultimately paved the way for my pursuit of a Ph.D. at the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology. Prior to that, I successfully completed my Master's degree in Industrial Design immediately after earning a Bachelor's degree in Textile Design from Shenkar College of Engineering and Design.

Over the past quarter-century, my professional journey has been dedicated to the exploration of textile innovation. It commenced at Source Outdoors and later transitioned to Delta Galil, where I gained valuable experience during my tenure. Subsequently, I embarked on a path of independent freelance consulting specializing in textile product design. This endeavor has allowed me to develop a profound understanding of both the market and the textile industry as a whole.

In recent years, I played a pivotal role in the establishment of a local design committee in Haifa, Israel. I am a certified consultant for several design-related programs approved by the Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Labor. Additionally, I actively volunteer with the Unistream association, an organization dedicated to fostering entrepreneurship among young people in peripheral areas.

Two worlds in one

In recent years, my primary focus has been on my Ph.D. studiy, which revolve around pioneering new digital fabrication technology for 3D textiles. Textile products operate within their own distinct parameters, significantly differing from materials such as plastic, wood, or metal. Due to my profound appreciation and expertise in this realm, I made the deliberate choice to concentrate on the specialized niche of premium textile product design. In 2006, I founded the Tamar Nix Design Studio to embark on this journey.

In 2014, I took another significant step by launching my own signature product line called "boodo," a collection of high-end textile products that seamlessly blend premium materials with unique design compositions. Additionally, I ventured into the realm of design art, creating large-scale installations that have been featured in various art and design exhibitions.

What sets me apart in the design process is my ability to bridge two worlds: one characterized by creativity and artistry, and the other marked by a profound understanding of the technology and practical aspects necessary to bring a concept to life successfully. This dual approach results in products that not only meet practical constraints and requirements but also possess a distinct identity, make a statement, and evoke a specific mood.

I already know how to create a great product in my field. Now I want to excite.

Let's talk
